Hate Disposable Razors?

Seeking an Alternative?  GREAT!! <---West Coast Shaving, go explore
Well, you might be happy to learn your great grand pappy knew how to take care of a few things, because to solve this modern problem you might have to read a couple long sentences on how it was done when cut throats were a barbershop profession and the disposable razor were still something of an experiment that wasn't widely accepted.   We can learn a few things about the past by watching a fun and quirky episode of The Rabbit of Seville with Bugs Bunny.

The Safety Razor
Being drastically easier to shave with than a Cut-throat, cheaper to refill than replacing a Cartridge Razor, giving a quality cut when used properly, less waste, easy to clean, and one of few products that after years of use you can clean it and have it look just as good as the first day you took the Safety Razor out of it's box.
Now how can a cartridge razor compare to that?

Oh, its just a lie, another marketing scheme...why would such a profound product leave the market?
...well? It is a hard thing to peg...maybe cartridge razors are just more attractive...and hard to clean...lets not forget to mention how expensive they are on a yearly basis.

Clearly it would seem that the chromed steel body of the Goodfella Razor I keep in my bathroom just cant stand up to some of these beautiful plastic cartridge razors with those very thoughtful arcing heads that break at the most opportune times.

The Goodfella is a Screw-top Safety Razor, currently my favorite too, at 2 oz. of chromed steel, when it enters your hand its hefty nature is something to behold.

But this razor costs more than a disposable!!!
This is a tool that lasts forever.
It holds Double Edge Razor Blades which you can buy for as little as 12 cents each for a quality edged double edge razor blade.

Hey, now looking at that bugs bunny picture, whats the point of that cup and that brush?
Well, that is how you make really luxurious lather for cheap. Shaving soap is what you use to load the brush, and shaving cream is what you put into the cup very sparingly to make a bountiful lather.  I been shaving with my set for maybe 2 years now and my starter set still hasnt run out.

Next time I might go over the use of a brush combined with shaving creams and soaps
to create a nice lather...

or the application of an old school wet-shave.

Was it worth it? Making my own lather and shaving with a chromed piece actually managed to make shaving fun, and something to look forward to in the morning. so.....YES!

Comments: This website is very useful for learning about the very many types of razors out there, while also being located in California for a quick delivery, but to go along with any form of shaving a Styptic Pencil is GREAT at stopping any form of small knick induced bleeding IMMEDIATELY....and for a price of $2 its hard to beat(thats right you can stop covering your face with toilet paper and getting angry when that cut refuses to stop bleeding after 30 minutes).
